These affordable SMD Tweezers are simple in design and merit some thought in usage.
Like almost all stand-alone soldering irons, these soldering tweezers are not temperature regulated, so proper preparation will go far in their use.
When desoldering or soldering, adding new flux will greatly help towards a successful job. Flux not only deoxidizes metallic surfaces to allow solder to flow, but plays a crucial role in conducting the heat of the soldering tips into the solder to melt it. You want your desolder or solder job to happen as quickly as possible to limit thermal damage to devices and the circuit board and traces, so use FLUX!! generously!
You should be prepared with an orderly working area, an anti-static wrist strap, a Panavise or some such method of securing your PCB, magnifying or reading glasses as needed, flux (preferably liquid), a probe, tweezer. or such to use in your off hand to hold down the component under soldering or for dislodging the component when desoldering, and a can of flux-off to clean up your mess.
The tips come with some bend to them but I have found that when using my soldering tweezers with the 2mm tips that I get better results on the small components by bending the tips with some pliers to more nearly parallel with their barrels. That way the tips are more perpendicular to the surface of the PCB and parallel to each other when engaging small components and I think they work better this way.
